10 Proven Ways to Beat Stress!
With the current world situation, economic stress, financial worries, changes at work, and family pressures (not to mention the physical, mental, and emotional strain of modern day life), many of us find ourselves feeling overly tense, fatigued, worried, anxious, and even depressed and overwhelmed - making it a bit challenging to find our "happy place", stay focused and truly enjoy life!
So what can you do to keep the Blues away and be calmer, happier, healthier and be more focused and “productive” both at home, at work, and at play?
1. SMILE and LAUGH! Your perception is your reality; so let go of your “resistance” and experience the joy of the holidays. Laugh at yourself. Make life fun; feel the joy of smiling and watch it positively change your life! Why be angry or unhappy? Choose happiness instead!
2. BREATHE! Close your eyes, take a deep full breath, and as you exhale let go of all your tension and worries. Breathe slowly. Breathe deeply. Breath is Life… breathe it in!
3. TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF! What is in your greatest and highest good is in the greatest and highest good of everyone you come in contact with. Honor yourself. Get a massage. Go for a walk. Do something you enjoy doing, even if it is doing nothing at all!
4. FORGIVENESS! Forgive yourself and forgive others. Set aside the “differences” you have with others and accept people just as they are. Forgiveness is something you do for yourself to release the “bonds” that tie you to unhappiness and keeps you from feeling love and joy!
5. FEEL YOUR FEELINGS. No one is an island. If you've recently lost a friend or a family member, realize that it's normal to feel sadness and grief. It's OK, but don’t get stuck there. If you're feeling down or unwanted, unappreciated or unloved, get together with people or groups that wills provide you with positive support and companionship.
6. VOLUNTEER: Helping others can be a great way to put your own problems in prospective, lift your spirits, make new friends, and help you to feel better by helping others feel better.
7. BE FLEXIBLE. Go with the flow! Most stress, pain and suffering come from needing other people, places or things to be “different” in order for you to be happy. Remember to enjoy the moment just as it is. Life is a journey, not a destination - enjoy the trip and play along the way!
8. STAY HEALTHY. Eat nutritious food. Take supplements as necessary to keep your energy up. Drink plenty of water. Exercise - walk, dance, do yoga, play golf or just stretch. Do what works best for you, but put down the TV remote, get your butt off the sofa and move your body!
9. GET QUIET: Pray and/or meditate. Reconnect with your “Higher-Self,” your Inner Source of power, inspiration and wisdom that gives your life purpose and meaning. Ground. Give thanks and be grateful. See and appreciate the beauty of life that surrounds you!
“You must tell people to balance their brains, balance their bodies.
The future lies with balanced humans.”
- Professor Raymond Dart, Renowned Anatomist, Brain Researcher and Anthropologist
10. GET YOUR WHOLE-BRAIN FUNCTIONING AT ITS HIGHEST LEVEL! Even though all of the above will help you deal with stress, you still need to address the problem on a causal level - not just treat the symptoms. Alphabiotics, HeartMath, EFT, and specific breathing techniques are proven to relieve stress, which promotes more whole-brain function – resulting in greater mental clarity, better emotional management, increased productivity and effectiveness, and you will feel less tense, have more energy, and be stronger, happier and healthier!
